Primarily on West Lake Okoboji, with other Iowa Great Lakes by request.

WHAT YOU'LL PRACTICE

Key skills in this module.

  • Low-speed turns and steering with minimal power.
  • Reversing with control and understanding prop walk tendencies.
  • Holding position near docks, hoists, or other boats without drifting into trouble.
  • Pivot turns and slow figure-eights to feel how your hull and drive respond.

EXAMPLE SESSION

How a typical session might flow.

  • Warm-up in open water to feel how your boat responds at very low speeds.
  • Tight quarters exercises between buoys or visual markers.
  • Holding position and small corrections in light wind/current.
  • Optional practice around your marina or hoist to connect it to your real-world spots.
